Three Categories

LIVE radio show hosted by Dóra Benyó in collaboration with Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence.
at Haus der Statistik | Tuesday, 23 April, 7–8 pm

Three Categories is a collaborative radio performance featuring Dutch/Hungarian artist Dóra Benyó and the Belgo-German artist duo Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence (O.J.A.I.). Central to the piece are the declassified secret police files compiled after the surveillance of Benyó’s grandfather, an academic and political activist during Hungary’s communist era. The title of the work stems from the categories of loyalty to the state citizens were classified into at the time.

Benyó’s collaboration with O.J.A.I. reimagines the architecture of the state archive, transforming it into a conceptual space representing totalitarian overreach through the excessive production of knowledge. O.J.A.I. contributes to this transformation by creating paranoid organizational atmospheres, conveyed through a series of fictional texts and modular sound compositions.

The collective listening session will take place at Haus der Statistik. Please RSVP to info@airberlinalexanderplatz.de if you wish to join the session in person and get the exact location.

Broadcasted through Colaboradio via Freies Radio Berlin/Brandenburg 88,4 MHz in Berlin 90,7 MHz in Potsdam or listen online.

O.J.A.I. Paranoid Meditation

The Non-Singularity Performance Series is a program of performances exploring the universe as a non-singular entity. Held within the distinctive architecture of the 4th Space Meditation Centre, designed to facilitate immersive experiences and applied modes of attention, the series offers a unique platform for contemplation. ‚Paranoid Meditation,‘ is a guided listening session from the Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence (Chris Dreier and Gary Farrelly). This piece promulgates political signals, homoerotic imaginaries, and cryptic dog whistles embedded in the built environment. The intervention combines story telling with live modular and synthetic sound accompaniment created specially for the occasion. The thematic resonance of ‚Paranoid Meditation‘ with the futuristic, monolithic architecture of the 4th Space Meditation Centre opens up the possibility of exploring architectonic and existential themes simultaneously. Both the centre and the series are produced and curated by artist and philosopher Dome Wood.
The performance is sold out already.
